ππ¨π«ππ§ πππ«π¬ππ§ is a genuine 1949 square-rigged brigantine chartering on Sydney Harbour for up to 120 guests, and one of the most storied tall ships on the water anywhere in the world. Originally built as one of the last fully traditional, cargo-carrying sailing ships made for the Baltic trade, she was lovingly restored and re-rigged by the Davies family in 1978 into the graceful 19th-century brigantine she is today. That heritage pedigree β real timber decks, real square-rigged sails, a real ship's history β is what sets her apart from every other function boat on the harbour, and makes her the natural pick for sailing charters, corporate functions, school formals and large function events that want something genuinely memorable rather than another motor yacht.
Onboard, Soren Larsen carries a fully licensed bar and seating across both the upper and lower decks, so a large group can spread out comfortably whether they're taking in the view topside or sheltering below in the timber-lined saloon. Her film and television credits alone are a talking point for any function β she's featured in The Onedin Line, The French Lieutenant's Woman and Shackleton, and during the 1982 filming of Shackleton she became the first wooden sailing ship to reach Arctic Greenland in 70 years. In 1991 she was the first British Tallship to round Cape Horn in 68 years, and she served as Flagship of the First Fleet Re-enactment Voyage, leading a fleet of 7 square riggers on an eight-month journey from Portsmouth to Sydney. Guests genuinely sail under square-rigged canvas, not just motor past the sights. Soren Larsen charters from $1,207.50 per hour in low season (JunβAug), rising to $1,437.50/hour in shoulder season (AprβMay, SepβOct) and $1,667.50/hour in peak season (NovβMar), with a 2-hour minimum charter β shorter than the usual 4-hour minimum on most Boatique boats. Public holidays carry Boatique's standard 20% surcharge; New Year's Eve pricing is quoted directly by the operator. Drinks run through the vessel's own licensed bar rather than BYO, and catering menus from finger food through to a full Tallship Menu are available. Soren Larsen is operated by Sydney Harbour Tall Ships, a family-owned, Australian-owned small business based at Campbells Cove, The Rocks, founded by Marty and Lisa Woods β who met aboard Soren Larsen themselves β and who also operate sister ships Southern Swan and Coral Trekker.
